“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent God’s only Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we loved God but that God loved us and sent the Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and God’s love is perfected in us.” (1 John 4:9-12)
Hello! My name is Lisa (she/her/hers), and I've had the incredible blessing of being the pastor of The Presbyterian Church of Oronoco since November 2012. This is the first congregation that I have served as a pastor. I am a Minnesota native and have a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and both a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. My family and I have made our home in the area because we are so invested in this beautiful part of Minnesota and in this truly special congregation.
The Presbyterian Church of Oronoco has a long history of worshiping in and serving the Oronoco community and surrounding area. We’re a cozy white church on the top of the hill, and once you step through our doors, you’ll realize that the cozy atmosphere goes far beyond our fellowship hall and our beautiful sanctuary. There’s a cozy feeling that comes from the people here – people who are more than happy to welcome you, worship with you, have a cup of coffee, and get to know you better.
This congregation is open, comfortable, and easy – easy to be with, easy to talk to, and easy to find a place in. In all that we do and say, we truly try to live out God’s love. We lift up and sustain one another – and anyone else we come in contact with – through prayer, support, and compassion. Our relationships with one another are grounded in the love of God and the grace of Jesus Christ.
I am excited to be a part of this congregation during our time right now. We're in a time of re-envisioning and growth. We're talking about our goals and who we want to be moving forward. One of the things that I love about this congregation is that it's so open to trying new things! Sometimes they work. Sometimes they don't. But we're always willing to try.
As the pastor, I’d love to get to know you – to listen to you, to laugh with you, to hear your story, to pray with you, and to help you grow in your walk with God in any way we can, whether you’ve been journeying with God for some time now or whether this Christian path is brand new for you. Being with people is one of the best parts of my job, so please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Blessings,
Pastor Lisa Johnson
